Fitness Gear you can’t do Without

We have already passed the first quarter of the year which means if you’re still using the line, New year, new me, then I hate to break it to you but, you’ve got some catching up to do.

You, like many others, might have fallen off the ‘getting fit and healthy’ resolution bandwagon, but remember, it’s never too late to get back on. Refreshing your workout wardrobe and accessories is a great way to get yourself motivated again!

Maybe, instead of dusting off those running shorts that have lasted since the horse-drawn cart days, you could indulge in a fancy new pair. You’ll find that some added accessories and a fresh image can do wonders for your confidence and motivation. We thought we’d get your creative juices going in the meantime.

  1. The Kit

When it comes to deciding on the most appropriate kit, you’ll need to consider the type of activity you are going to indulge in, be it gym, swimming, running and so on and the time of year. No one wants to run in hot pants during winter, or probably ever. Once you are decided, start browsing sports stores to check out their collection, prices and be on the lookout for good specials. It’s important to research some of the gear you’ll be using before you make that card swipe. For example, if you plan on doing mostly road running then you should be looking for the shoes specifically made to support your feet for that terrain. The same can be said for trail running or maybe a bit of both. Doing a sport or exercise in kit that is inappropriate for the activity often leads to discomfort and irritation and then the likelihood of throwing in the towel

2. Fitness Trackers

If you are looking to get back into the fitness game, then it’s time to treat yourself to a fitness tracker. This could come in the form of a fitness band or a smartwatch. Fitness bands are low-priced, lightweight and fitness-focused while smartwatches also serve as an extension to a smartphone. Check out some of the best fitness trackers for 2019:

Best fitness tracker overall: Fitbit Charge 3

For Android users: Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro

For IPhone users: Apple Watch Series 4

Best hybrid watch: Withings Steel HR Sport

Best fitness band for runners, outdoors: Garmin Vivosport

Best budget fitness band: Fitbit Inspire

Spoiled for choice! Using a fitness tracker helps you gauge your progress and is great for setting personal goals.

3. Accessories

Maybe it’s time to clear out a spot in your cupboard for sports and exercise accessories. This is where you can keep things like headphones, gym towel, foam roller, compression socks and shorts, maybe a yoga mat, a pair of sunglasses would help, sweat bands, some high visibility gear, what about dumbbells, and don’t forget sunblock! Having a special place for your exercise accessories shows that not only are you taking it seriously but that you are well prepared when it comes to getting your gear together. It means no digging around looking for your headphones or running socks that could potentially ruin the moment.

With SO much exercise and sporting gear trending, there is no excuse for avoiding a workout because you have nothing to wear or can’t find your headphones. It’s all about deciding on what you enjoy, revamping your gear for a boost of confidence and getting out there and doing it!

  1. Very good blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely confused .. Any tips? Thank you!
